Side by side they lay there. They spent the sunset in the surface. Close to each other and with tired eyes they hold their hands. Bob, the sea man's prince from the empire of the depth and Malfuria, the mermaid's princess of Atlantis. They kept their love secret. Their fathers were kings of two totally different kingdoms. While Atlantis was a beaming and big kingdom, the empire of the depth was sombre, lonesome and dark. One could recognise this with the help of the tails of Malfuria and Bob. Bob's tail looked like the pattern of a tiger fur. The tail of Malfuria, against, was red beaming and in the fins seven high-carat diamonds had grown. Their parents didn't allow them to meet each other, however, since their first meeting they couldn't resist.
Bob opened his eyes. He noted the more and more weakly getting light of the sun. Quiet and still affectionately he woke up Mali. „Mali? Wake up, the sun is setting.“ The princess rubbed her eyes. „Oh it is already this late? Then we soon have to go home, huh?“ „Unfortunately. But tomorrow we can arrange to meet again here. Well, if we don't get busted before.“ Bob started to laugh. Now, they were on this small rock for dozens times and enjoyed the sunset and not a single time they were seen. At least not from other sea people. A little bit remotely from them, hidden behind a big rock, a small motorboat flushed. Obviously one did not want to be seen. An old man in a turquoise-coloured suit knelt at the head of the boat and observed the sea people by his hands educated to two circles. His name was Charles Montgomery Burns. He was a very rich man with a gigantic house. His loyal, secretly homosexual butler Waylon J. Smithers was near his boss on this day - as usual. A wearer of glasses. He sat beside the engine to start it on command.
„Excellent!“, Monty whispered. „Smithers, release the hounds!“ Confused Smithers replied: „Err, Mr. Burns, first of all your hounds are not able to swim. Second, your hounds are not here now. And third, why should we release the hounds? You're just observing two sea people.“ „Damn justice! One of these sea-creatures got shiny diamonds at it's tail! For no price I'm gonna let someone else get them, alright? Such showpieces are missing in my exhibition!" At the other side of the about three metre long boat there sat a red-haired woman which polished her nails and said in a bored tone: „Oh Monty, you and your exhibition. You have promised to me that we're gonna spend the evening with fishing. But instead of it, you keep watching through your fingers since hours and don't have the intention to ask me how I am! Intolerable!“ Smithers added:„ I have to agree with your girlfriend. You could see much more with binoculars."
The lover of the money-loving and elder man was April Springs and she wore a black dress. Her 'angler's dress'. „I don't need binoculars to track down pieces of jewelerry! I can smell them! Well then - let's hope that the both will show up again tomorrow. Then we can welcome them in the Montgomery style. Hahahahaha …“ His laughter developed to an immense fit of coughing. After several seconds it was over. Monty was out of breath. He gasped. „You once again forgot to take your tablets, right?", April asked. The last cough came from his mouth. „… Yes.“
At this moment both sea people disappeared. Monty directed his look at the rock. „Tomorrow we will lurk for them. But tomorrow I won't appear with empty hands. We're going to fish diamonds!"
The clear star sky shone quietly over the sea. The moonshine was recognizable even under water. And so was it for Atlantis. Unnoticed Bob and Malfuria swam before it's gates. Bob attended her. He wanted to protect her. „Now, here we are. The evening with you was really nice, Bob.“, Mali said quietly. „Will we meet again tomorrow?" Bob stroked her cheeks and answered: „Of course, my sweetness. I will wait for you.“ They embraced and gave a parting kiss. Malfuria started to swim backward. Bob sent her one aerial kiss. Then he disappeared. Back to the empire of the depth. Malfuria sighed in a relaxed tone. She had butterflies in her stomach. Briefly before she sneaked next to the guards, her father appeared in front of her. She got a fright.
„Oh! Good evening, father! How's it going?“ Malfurias startled face could not be hidden. Their father immediately recognised what was wrong. „Daughter, where have you been? Your mother and I were ill of worry! Were you at the surface again?“ Head-scratching Malfuria tried to deny. However, she had to say the truth. „Oh, for Neptune's sake, yes, I was at the surface. With Bob.“ Her father shouted at her: „WHAT?! I expressly forbade you to meet this guy! He just wants to entrap you to have access to our kingdom!" Malfuria interrupted her father furiously: „Father! How can you dare to talk about him like that? You don't know him at all! I love him! Besides my sister, he's the only one who understands me!" The two princesses actually were very closely. Even if they were not similar to themselves in all sorts of things. Malfurias hair was brown, her sisters' black. Her sister, Seline, had a yellow tail without any diamond.
„You disappointed me for the last time! You will never see this man again, okay? I forbid it to you!“ Weeping Malfuria swam in her bedchamber.
She did not want to be separated from Bob. The longing love would kill her. In spite of the warning of her father she decided to swim to the surface the next day. Her love to him was bigger than the fear of her father. In low spirits she lay on her bed. In her hands she held a strand of hair. She turned it around her finger to let it go afterwards.
„Sis! What's the pitch?“ Seline was at the entrance of her room. „I have eavesdropped your and our father's conversation. After all I understood, you were with Bob, right?“ Malfuria nodded. Seline sat down to her. She took her hand. „I can understand you very well, it has to be hart to get separated from the one you love." Malfuria replied: „I don't care about what father said, I will meet him again tomorrow. No matter the cost!" Her sister slowly swam out the room and advised her: „Do what you think is right. I am on your side.“
Above the surface, far from Atlantis, Montgomery was up to do bad. He prepared for the tomorrow's day. A big net, a fishing ship, a harpoon cannon and a container full of water. Everything had been putted on a big follower.
„Smithers! Can we drive off?“, Monty shouted. Yawning his loyal butler answered while sitting in the car: „Yes, sir! … I've been waiting for you to hump in since 20 minutes. But all the time you stood behind the car and kept watching the sunrise." „Oh, excuse me! This aurora just reminded me of the second world war that I have indulged myself in old recollections. Nevertheless, the warm rays of the sun had no effects on the cold of the war – and the mood of the combatants. Sombre times …“ On top on the porch April appeared. A long cigarette was between her red lips. She breathed out the smoke through her nostrils. Now it was five o'clock in the morning and April didn't like to get up so early at all.
„It's simply not understandable, that you're so obsessed with those diamonds, Charles! I thought you got hundreds of other precious diamonds in your possession." „And I thought I told you that these diamonds are so seldom, their value is 'unaffordable'., Monty replied irritated. „Moreover, in their whole existence they were in salted water - what makes them look more valuable."
April sighed and sat down in the car quietly. Her husband followed her without any respond. His avarice for the diamonds was stronger than Aprils disappointment. „Next stop; the pier of Springfield!“
